Macronetics Europe today announced the introduction European Damaged Vehicle Solution (EDVS)
Innovative solution to manage and reduce the cost of vehicle damage and delay within the outbound logistics supply chain. The solution is built on Macronetic's Automate BPM platform, a new generation of workflow software that helps companies streamline their operations by turning paper-based processes into actionable format.
"Together with our European Back Office partners, we are rolling out the EDVS project to reduce costs for European OEMs," said Dr. Vinh Nguyen, CEO at Macronetics. "Facing up to the current automotive logistics issues and need for cost reduction, the automotive supply chain for vehicle delivery between assembly plant and end customer is very complex. Vehicles are transported across countries and sometime continental borders using diverse carriers, storage compounds and transportation methods often with negative outcomes such as vehicle damage, delayed customer deliveries and increased insurance costs. Our solution will streamline the logistics of vehicle transport and save money for our customers."
Colin J, Wilson, Director of Business Innovations for Macronetics Europe, added: "Our research into the problem has identified a number of key issues which we have addressed with the EDVS solution. We can track the vehicles and identify when and where damage has occurred. Through our web-based system, we provide full track-and-trace functionality. We report on damage at source with causes, highlighting repair availability, timescales and costs. This enables our customers to assess the potential impact on downstream logistics capacities and delivery dates.
At the checking points as vehicles move from one transport or carrier to the other, EDVS provides inspection templates to be used to identify and record damage or missing components. This process is supported by photographic evidence to provide visual data on the extent of damage and probable causes. The workflow element is used to identify repair capacities and costs of both time and materials. This online folder becomes the basis for apportioning responsibilities and managing the insurance claims. The workflow elements of the system are then used to proactively reschedule the logistics and minimize any potential delay."
The key benefits of the EDVS solution include:
- Provide visibility of vehicles in the supply chain by scanning VIN numbers
- Provide visibility to all stakeholders on a transportation progress
- Provide analysis of logistics organization's performance in terms of damage and on-time delivery performance.
- Key analysis of damaged vehicles including causes, providing data to reduce the issues and costs
- Use of workflow to proactively maintain the distribution flows and reduce time in the logistics supply chain
- Supported by improved data and control to reduce damage and insurance costs
